Day 22 of the Longest Walk

Portreath to Hayle
Portreath to Hayle

Day 7 of this weeks adventures and day 22 in total of The Longest Walk.

We stayed at the Portreath Arms in Portreath the WiFi wasn’t working until I found the router and restarted it that got it sorted Happy (I did’t tell anyone)
The food and the breakfast were good, but the accommodation was not 3 star and was a little disappointing, I think the place just needs a little TLC and it would be a worthy location to stay. But as I said the food and breakfast (especially the sausage at break was good) friendly staff.

Our walk started at 9:24 and we stopped at a bakery to see if there was anything we needed, we met some others also doing the walk in the same direction, however they were carrying their house with them, so they’re pace was going to be a little slower than ours.
We headed out and although the day was cloudy and visibility wasn’t as good as yesterday, the views were still up to our expectation and why wouldn’t they be.
After a few up and downs pass Samphire Island the walk is pretty much flat along the top of the cliffs, the heather along this stretch seemingly was at a different stage then the previous stretch’s.
We took a coffee and cake highly recommended at the cafe at Hell’s Mouth. This section is worth a day’s out especially along to Godrevy Point and the Lighthouse on Godrevy Island, we saw a load of seals all getting out to bask as the tide was going out. Seeing seals is always a good sign.
I also took another 360 at Hell’s Mouth.

We carried on round to St Ives Bay, we got right down onto the beach took our shoes and socks off and walked all the way to Hayle, we have been really lucky with the tides so far on this trip. The beach walk was 3.5 miles and that can take it’s toll on your feet (especially my toes) if your not careful!

We arrived at the White Hart Hotel around 4:30pm and at last our room had a bath bliss. A lot of history especially around the Industrial Revolution is evident in Hayle and they are pretty proud of it which is evident.
